Karting, Drifting, Supermoto On Tap This Weekend

  • June 25, 2009
TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH —

All the racing action at Miller Motorsports Park this weekend, June 27-28, will be taking place at the Miller Karting Complex.

On Saturday, the track will host Round 3 of the Utah Kart Championship. This is one of two karting championships that were developed by Miller Motorsports Park to encourage and develop kart racing in Utah and the surrounding region. Karting is not only the most popular method for young people to learn racing skills that will help them advance up the racing ladder, but also a great family-oriented recreational activity. Karters ranging in age from 5 to 65 will be competing for trophies and points in 14 classes towards the overall series championships.

Also on Saturday, Drift Enterprises will be doing their best to vaporize some tires in the West Paddock. Drift Enterprises is a Salt Lake City-based company founded in 2007 that organizes sanctioned drifting events at various locations in Utah.

On Sunday, the Miller Karting Complex will be taken over by the Utah Supermoto Championship, which will be contesting Round 4 of its seven-round series. Riders will be competing in 13 classes for trophies and championship points. Supermoto is the fastest-growing form of motorcycle sport in America, and can best be described as a combination of road racing and motocross. The track incorporates the paved karting track with dirt jump sections, and the riders use modified motocross bikes on slick tires. A wide variety of classes are offered to both novices and experts, young and old (five years of age and older).

The Off-Road Course will be also open this weekend for four-wheeled enthusiasts to test their vehicles on a variety of surfaces with varying degrees of difficulty.

The Ace Café will be open for lunch all weekend and the Larry H. Miller Total Performance Museum will also be open.

Tickets for this weekend are priced at $6 per day for adults, with kids 12 and under free.
